Abscesses Supplements, Information & Products
General Information
Abscess is a localized collection of pus in part of the body, formed by tissue disintegration and surrounded by an inflamed area. Pus is a collection of local dead tissue cells, white blood cells, infecting organisms or foreign material and toxins released by both organisms and blood cells. An abscess is a sign that the body is trying to rid itself of impurities. The final structure of the abscess is an abscess wall that is formed by the adjacent healthy cells in an attempt to build a barrier around the pus that limits the infected material from neighboring structures. Abscesses can form in almost every part of the body and may be caused by infectious organisms, parasites, and foreign materials. Abscesses in the skin are readily visible and are red, raised, and painful. Abscesses in other areas of the body may not be obvious, but if they involve vital organs they may cause significant damage.
Prevention of abscesses is dependent on the location and cause. For example, good hygiene is important in prevention of skin abscesses. Dental hygiene and routine care will prevent dental abscesses.
Possible Lifestyle Changes for Abscesses
